This is a three part series all about alternatives to calendar time! There are three live dates where you will attend a zoom meeting. I will present some content and we will end with a discussion. The live part will be 40 min! After the webinar I will provide an assignment for you to complete. You will have one week to complete and submit the assignment. For each webinar + assignment that you complete you will receive 1 hour of PD credit.

Week One: Developmental Goals of Calendar Time


March 25 

8PM- 9M

 Week one we will look at Traditional Calendar time and the goals were are trying to meet. We will talk about the developmental appropriateness of calendar time and how we can use alternatives to meet those same goals.

Week Two: Movement Circles


 April 1 

8PM - 9PM

Week Two we will learn all about seasonal movement circles. We will talk about how to create movement circles, why kids LOVE them and how you can slowly incorporate them into your classroom. I will also share some of my favorite seasonal movement circles and we will have a chance to discuss problem areas and what might hold you back from trying a movement circle with your own students.

Week 3: Intro to Puppet Plays


April 8

8PM- 9PM

In the final (3rd) week of this series we will learn all about puppet plays. I will teach you how to do simple puppet plays using nursery rhymes and more complex puppet plays using seasonal themes. We will talk about how to create a space for puppet plays and why oral storytelling is important for children. I will share some of my favorite resources for learning about puppet plays and give yous simple steps to build your own puppet library!
